It stands for AIMS Video Transect Analysis System. Video transects are systematically sampled identifying the benthos occurring at fixed points along the transect at the higher taxonomic level possible. The AVTAS software is used to analyze the video transects. During the analysis, the data is saved in a Microsoft Access¼ database.
